Retinal Health Scans for Full-Scope Care

A key part of your eye exam with us is about assessing the health of your retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of your eye responsible for sending visual signals to your brain.

With optical coherence tomography (OCT), which provides detailed cross-sectional views of the retina, and fundus photography, which captures precise images of the retina, we can detect early signs of diabetes, macular degeneration, and other eye conditions.

These technologies also allow us to establish a baseline of your retinal health, monitor changes over time, and offer personalized, proactive care for your vision.

Dry Eye Care You Can See

Education is part of everything we do at Envision Eye Care. That’s why every adult eye exam with us includes screening for dry eye disease, a chronic condition that affects at least one-third of Canadians

Your eye exam with us includes a quick photograph of the oil glands lining your eyelids. If these meibomian glands are not functioning properly, this imagery, called meibography, helps inform our treatment plan for you. Meibography can also clearly illustrate the effectiveness of dry eye treatment as you regain function of the glands.

Dry Eye Treatment Technology

For patients with persistent, disruptive dry eye symptoms, we recommend IPL (intense pulsed light). IPL helps treat dry eye symptoms by reducing inflammation and targeting abnormal blood vessels that contribute to meibomian gland dysfunction.

We may also recommend radiofrequency (RF) for dry eye treatment. Radiofrequency works by gently heating the area around the eyes to improve meibomian gland function, enhancing tear quality.

Eye Disease Care Enhanced by Technology

OCT and retinal photography play a crucial role in detecting and managing serious eye diseases by giving us clear insight into the inner structures of the eyes. Together, these tools help monitor eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy—diseases that can significantly affect vision if left untreated.

We use the Olleyes VR visual field test, which our patients often find easier to use than traditional visual field testing. It evaluates your peripheral vision and helps identify any blind spots that may indicate vision loss or other issues at the edges of your vision.

Many eye diseases can start to damage vision without noticeable symptoms—with consistent eye exams, we can stay on top of any changes.

Modern Contact Lens Fitting

Our corneal topographer is invaluable for fitting specialty contact lenses, especially for people with hard-to-fit eyes or those who’ve been told they can’t wear contacts.

Corneal topography maps the unique shape of the cornea in precise detail. This is especially relevant for keratoconus or other corneal conditions, helping us to create customized lens solutions that can improve comfort and vision.

Corneal topography also allows us to establish a detailed baseline of your cornea’s curve, allowing us to monitor any changes over time and check that your contact lenses continue to meet your needs.
